One Teacher’s Brilliant Strategy to Stop Bullying

About palancatina

Teacher, Student, Facilitator. In Spanish, PALANCA means lever. An English Language student once told me how apt my name was because I lifted the class up into a higher realm of knowledge and understanding. I hope to live up to that!

Thank you for sharing this article on a simple yet brilliant strategy to uncover serious issues before they come to fruition. The author stated that it’s all about the connections, does the child have a buddy, how many buddies? We all need a friend. Unless a child/person is completely so well grounded and happy in his/her shoes and does not want for anyone—this would be very odd. Indeed, at nearly every age, particularly in school, all kids need a friend, a pal. Teachers can help foster relationships and teach kids about acceptance. Not everyone should be or needs to be “BFF” with everyone, but at least to have one or two peers that ‘have your back,’ that can offer a smile of encouragement, a virtual pat on the back when needed.
I hope to bring this wisdom to my future classes, fingers crossed given the hiring status of Fairfax County Public Schools!!!
